Near the Alamo, the art shows were great, and she was able to make a living selling her Deerhorn Jewelry.
She was able to collect slabs of petrified palm wood and coral to paint on, as well as painting traditional acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media pictures on canvas and watercolor papers.
A new endeavor was "EarWings"; matte board scraps from picture framing were cut into shapes of butterfly wings, moth wings, and parrots.
Colorfully painted with shimmerings added and sealed in resin, these light, durable and individually unique earrings became very popular. One of my favorite ensembles was a pair of Toucan earrings and a Toucan pin; of course I called them the "Threecans".
Single, and moving to Florida, she was introduced to a guy with alot of the same interests, walking the beach, nature, diving, art, and collecting "stuff", and we married. Unfortunately the art show circuit in this part of Florida was brutal. Even after adding "Florida Christmas Balls" and my Stained Glass Kaleidoscopes and clocks, we were glad to have a day job. After the birth of our son, six years ago, we were not able to create and sell at the art shows, which was probably a blessing.
Now, with the Inter-Net and friends we've made through CSI and SkyAngel, we can once again offer Nancy's Art to the world, possibly even more of the world than we can imagine!
