In a world where music has been created in so many different genres, jazz has withstood the test of time. One of the problems that have existed all along with jazz, is its constant connection to the forties & fifties roots jazz, as being the only acceptable jazz by die hard artists & fans. Although other forms of music have evolved  to modern times, it seems that jazz from its roots era, is being deemed the only true & acceptable form of art. With the fusion of rock & jazz in the late sixties, have come many modern styled jazz groups, respectfully, such as FattBurger with Steve Laury, Spyro Gyra, Avenue Blue, George Benson, Larry Carlton & Santana whom have created, as the old jazz die hards would call it, watered down or pseudo jazz! Just as fifties roots rock music evolved to various modern rock styles that have been accepted, so should jazz in its many forms. After all, this is what ads variety to our musical lives. Can you imagine being constantly subjected to fifties rock music in our modern times? Of course, some music never dies, such as “the blues”, simply because people can really relate to this music. Although modern styled jazz has a following with an older crowd, it still can offer the younger crowd a great musical experience that can be very beneficial & entertaining to them. Young artists can increase their artistic abilities, putting them on a higher plateau of musicianship. There are already many young jazz artists today, whom are experiencing that higher plateau. Jazz is & can be very entertaining to the young, if they will give it a listen. Jm Cruiz's music is just such, an eclectic blend of rock & jazz.. Rock, smooth, upbeat, melodic, easy listening music that’s entertaining. Jm  has been involved with jazz since it’s beginning, as well as it’s off shoot, rock! Jm’s creativeness in these two forms of art, are well exemplified in his music.

To me, jazz is the most expressive form of music on the planet. Not only is it entertaining, it reaches the very deepest seat of emotion that any human being can possibly feel. It can calm you down like a slight breeze on a sunny afternoon, It can pick you up and soar you through the universe with great speed and accuracy and bring you back a completely changed individual, with a new perspective and appreciation for life!    Jm Cruiz!
